Bike Fitting and Sweat Testing
MCC offers both BikeFits and Sweat Testing.
MCC Sweat Test by Precision Hydration
Everyone loses a different amount of sodium in their sweat, from as little as 200mg per litre of sweat, to as much as 2,000mg/l – this is largely genetically determined.
No blood test. No need to bust a gut on a treadmill. No need to wait whilst your sample goes off to a lab for top secret analysis.
Our Sweat Test takes about 45 minutes and all you have to do is sit comfortably whilst we talk to you about how you train, compete and walk you through your Personalised Hydration Strategy. The test is simple, painless, and extremely accurate.
This gives us an accurate reading of the amount of sodium (the key electrolyte lost in sweat) you lose every time you exercise. This is largely genetically determined and it’s relatively stable after infancy, and so in most cases you’ll only need one test in your life in order to understand an important part of the hydration equation.
We combine the reading with the context you give us during the test to create a hydration strategy just for you. We’ll advise you on when, what and how much to drink before, during and after training and competitions, so that you’re well equipped to achieve your goals.
We’ll recommend what strength electrolyte drinks will work best for you in each scenario too. We developed these multi-strength electrolyte tablets because the off the shelf products out there just don’t do the job for most people. Our strongest product, PH 1500 has up to 3.5 times more electrolytes than other brands you might have used before.
We have exclusive access to this fully patented testing technology for sweat testing athletes. It has a long and credible history in medicine as a diagnostic tool for some Cystic Fibrosis. We’ve also been granted US Patent (Pending) for the concept of providing personalised hydration strategies through an accurate sweat test.
MCC BikeFit focuses on fitting the rider to the bike, rather than simply fitting the bike to the rider.
Mick guides the fitting process using technology as a tool, rather than relying on rigid “copy-and-paste” methods often seen elsewhere. The goal is to achieve an ideal riding position that maximises athletic performance while minimising stress on vulnerable areas of the body.
With more than 11 years of experience and over 2,500 bike fits completed across a wide range of cycling disciplines, Mick brings extensive practical knowledge to every session. He is known for his approachable nature and clear communication style, supported by university qualifications in Teaching, Arts, Physical Education, Anatomy & Physiology, and Remedial Massage.

Do I need to exercise during the test?
No. The test is completed comfortably without needing to ride or run.
What does the Sweat Test measure?
It measures the amount of sodium lost in your sweat to help create a personalised hydration strategy.
Who should get a Sweat Test?
It is beneficial for cyclists, triathletes, runners, endurance athletes and anyone wanting to improve hydration performance.
How often do I need a Sweat Test?
For most people, one test is enough as sweat sodium levels are generally stable over time.
How much sodium can people lose in sweat?
People can lose anywhere from as little as 200mg to as much as 2,000mg of sodium per litre of sweat.
Is sweat sodium loss genetically determined?
Yes. Sweat sodium concentration is largely genetically determined and tends to remain relatively stable over time.
Will I receive a hydration strategy?
Yes. Your results are combined with your training and racing habits to create a personalised hydration strategy.
What products are recommended after the test?
We may recommend specific strength electrolyte products depending on your sweat sodium concentration and training needs.
Can a Sweat Test help prevent cramping?
Understanding your hydration and sodium needs can help reduce the risk of dehydration and cramping during exercise.
Is the Sweat Test painful?
No. The Sweat Test is simple, painless and non-invasive.
How accurate is the Sweat Test?
The Precision Hydration Sweat Test provides an accurate reading of the sodium concentration in your sweat.
Do I need more than one Sweat Test?
Most people only need one test in their lifetime because sweat sodium levels are generally stable after infancy.
How much does a Sweat Test cost?
Our Precision Hydration Sweat Test is $249 and includes your personalised hydration strategy and consultation.
Your fit will be full of stories, nice and relaxed and guided by your feedback. Because, “What YOU feel, is real.”
- New bike purchase?
- Pain or discomfort?
- Desire to increase power and efficiency?
- The five connection points (9 on a time trial or triathlon bike) are the right and left foot, the pelvis, and right and left hands. Even if your bike is not the correct “size,” as long as you get the connection points in the ideal place, you can still achieve a good and comfortable bike fit.
Do I need to book a bike fit?
Yes. All bike fits are by appointment only.
What should I bring to my bike fit?
Your bike, cycling shoes, riding kit, and any insoles or orthotics you currently use.
Do you fit all types of bikes?
Yes. We fit road, TT, gravel, mountain bikes and e-bikes.
Can you install parts during the fit?
Yes. If parts are required and available, they can be installed on the day and are charged separately.
Will a bike fit help with discomfort?
A correct bike fit can greatly reduce discomfort and help prevent future issues caused by poor positioning.
